Royal Road Minerals Ltd (TSX-V:RYR, OTC:RRDMF, FRA:RLU) CEO Dr Tim Coughlin spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the latest exploration work at the Margaritas target in Colombia, where the company has identified significant silver-antimony veins as it continues its search for a deeper porphyry copper-gold system. Coughlin said the significance of the veins comes from the combination of mining widths and grades, with veins around four to five metres wide carrying high grades of silver alongside antimony and gold. Encountered during the maiden drilling programme at Margaritas, completed in June, subsequent mapping and sampling have extended the area of interest to around 450 by 420 metres. "We're starting to build an idea of a silver vein resource sitting above what was the initial target of Margaritas, which is a deeper porphyry copper gold system," Coughlin said. Royal Road is using multi-element geochemistry, geophysics and geological mapping to understand the broader hydrothermal system and help vector exploration towards its hotter, potentially more prospective parts. Coughlin also discussed the possible relationship between Margaritas and the nearby Güíntar porphyry target, saying it's "probably more likely that Güíntar and Margaritas are attached to the same underlying big porphyry intrusion intrusive system." Drilling at Güíntar is progressing towards the anticipated porphyry stockwork, while Royal Road continues advancing other opportunities across its Colombian portfolio, with Coughlin highlighting ongoing drilling results and access to projects in southern Colombia as areas for investors to watch.
