Just the Facts: Sovereign Metals confirms Kasiya graphite meets refractory standards

Episode Summary

Sovereign Metals Ltd has confirmed that graphite concentrate from the Kasiya Rutile-Graphite Project in Malawi meets all key requirements for refractory applications. Testing was conducted by German laboratories ProGraphite and Dorfner Anzaplan. Refractories, which are used in high-temperature industrial processes, account for 24% of the natural graphite market, making them the second-largest end-use sector after battery applications, which hold a 52% market share. The refractories market requires large, coarse graphite flakes with specific chemical and physical properties. According to Sovereign Metals, approximately 70% of Kasiya’s graphite meets these size requirements. The company states that its latest test results confirm Kasiya’s graphite also meets or exceeds the necessary chemical and physical specifications for refractories. These findings, combined with previous positive results for battery anode materials, support the quality of Kasiya’s graphite and strengthen the project’s sales and marketing potential. In Q4 2024, large flake graphite was priced at up to US$1,193 per tonne, while smaller flake graphite was priced at US$564 per tonne. Kasiya’s graphite concentrate is expected to be produced at US$241 per tonne (FOB), potentially allowing for significant margins. #SovereignMetals #KasiyaProject #Graphite #Refractories #IndustrialMaterials #BatteryMaterials #Mining #NaturalGraphite #FlakeGraphite #Manufacturing #HighTemperature #RutileGraphite #GraphiteMarket
