Proactive - Interviews for investors

Connecting Excellence CEO on £600k raise, acquisitions and Bitcoin strategy

Episode Summary

Connecting Excellence Group Plc (AQSE:XCE, OTCQB:XCELF) CEO Scott Ellam talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s £600,000 fundraising, acquisition strategy and plans to use Bitcoin as part of its balance sheet strategy. Ellam said the £600,000 was raised at 1.5p per share, representing a 3.4% premium to the previous night’s closing price. He explained that the funding would support the company’s Bitcoin treasury, acquisition pipeline and recruitment of revenue-generating recruiters. The discussion also covered an acquisition that XCE intends to close. The target is an operating recruitment company focused on construction and holds 8.216 Bitcoin in reserve. Ellam said the transaction “should double the group.” Ellam outlined the company’s wider acquisition model, which targets profitable, cash-generating, owner-managed recruitment businesses. He said there are between 500 and 1,000 owner-managed recruitment companies in the UK that fit the company’s target profile, with around 10,000 globally. The CEO also discussed his appearance at Bitcoin Corporate Day in London, where he shared the stage with British cryptographer and cypherpunk Adam Back. Ellam explained how XCE sees Bitcoin on the balance sheet potentially supporting the growth of its operating business over the longer term. He said building a strong balance sheet could give the company “a lot of optionality over the next three, five, ten years,” while potentially making XCE more attractive to recruitment business owners considering joining the group.
