BrenX CEO Nir Brenmiller joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce that the company has entered into a definitive real estate sale and purchase agreement to acquire approximately 10,872 square meters of industrial land and photovoltaic infrastructure adjacent to its operating solar facility in Kaposszekcső, Hungary. The transaction represents an important step in BrenX’s strategy to develop, own and operate integrated energy infrastructure and marks the company’s first execution of its develop-own-operate strategy. The additional property expands the company’s footprint around its existing 1.2 MWp solar facility, which is already operating and provides the energy foundation for the site’s potential expansion. Brenmiller explained that the acquisition could transform the Kaposszekcső property from a standalone renewable energy asset into what BrenX believes could become its first integrated industrial energy resource center. With additional land now available, the company can evaluate the deployment of multiple energy technologies and infrastructure solutions based on future commercial opportunities and customer requirements. Potential developments at the site could include additional photovoltaic generation, battery energy storage systems (BESS), BrenX’s proprietary bGen™ thermal energy storage technology, industrial energy services and, where technically and economically appropriate, modular data center infrastructure. The company believes combining these technologies could provide greater flexibility in how energy is generated, stored, managed and delivered to industrial customers. BESS could be used to store electricity and help optimize energy use, while bGen™ TES could convert electricity and recovered heat into dispatchable thermal energy for industrial applications. The expanded site also gives BrenX the ability to consider how additional renewable generation and energy storage could work alongside the existing 1.2 MWp solar facility. The company says this integrated approach could allow it to respond more effectively to evolving customer energy requirements while creating opportunities for longer-term customer relationships and recurring revenue. The strategy is designed to create integrated energy platforms that can serve industrial customers and, where appropriate, energy-intensive applications such as data centers.
