Empire Metals (AIM: EEE, ASX: EEE) managing director Shaun Bunn spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about progress towards pilot-scale testing at its Pitfield Titanium Project in Western Australia, plans to produce high-purity titanium dioxide and the next steps towards development. Bunn explained how the company’s proprietary Empire Process builds on successful bench-scale work, with pilot testing designed to validate the flowsheet and produce material for customer evaluation. A key target is the architectural paints and coatings market, which the company estimates accounts for nearly one-third of global titanium dioxide pigment demand, or around 2.3 million tonnes annually. Product development and customer feedback will help Empire refine its pigment to meet end-user specifications. The interview also covered Pitfield’s scoping study, expected in the first quarter of 2027. The study will assess production costs and the project’s potential competitiveness against established titanium dioxide producers in China and Europe. Bunn also discussed Empire’s planned ASX listing, intended to broaden its investor base, and the milestones ahead as the company works towards more detailed feasibility studies during 2027.
