Light Science Technologies CEO: £800m fire safety framework fuels growth in £14bn remediation market

Episode Summary

Light Science Technologies Holdings PLC (AIM:LST, FRA:9FD) CEO Simon Deacon spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about growing opportunities for the company's passive fire protection (PFP) division, including a major new public-sector fire safety and building remediation framework from Efficiency East Midlands (EEM). Deacon said EEM has launched an £800 million fire safety and building remediation framework for public buildings in the Midlands, replacing the existing one and set to start in February 2027. LSTH is focused on two lots covering external walls, facades, cladding and cavity barriers, worth a combined £584 million over four years. The company is seeking to get specified and win cavity barrier remediation work under the framework, supporting growth of its PFP division and IP-protected Injectaclad solution. Deacon also highlighted increased activity since the Building Safety Regulator moved between government departments at the end of January, roughly doubling the company's work compared with the previous 12 months and boosting its quoted pipeline. "Our £20 million quoted pipeline this year, we've had 11 projects which are live projects currently underway across the country," he said, spanning schools, hospitals, hotels and social housing. Deacon pointed to a remediation market worth more than £14 billion, with work potentially continuing for 15 to 20 years. Looking ahead, he expects growing demand for Injectaclad to support margins and cash generation, with the PFP division potentially leading the group in revenue, gross margin and cash generation in 2027.
