ReconAfrica CEO Brian Reinsborough joined Steve Darling from to discuss encouraging production testing results from the Kavango West 1X discovery well in Namibia and the company’s next phase of development. The company successfully flowed natural gas and potential liquids to surface from two separate zones, including the upper Huttenberg formation and the previously announced upper Elandshoek zone. The Huttenberg interval produced hydrocarbons immediately upon perforation and before any acid stimulation, highlighting the strength of the discovery. With vertical production testing now complete, ReconAfrica has prioritized the Huttenberg formation for an open-hole horizontal production test. The upcoming program will target up to 1,000 metres of horizontal drilling, designed to better evaluate the reservoir’s commercial potential. Management selected the Huttenberg interval based on several key factors, including evidence of gas and liquid hydrocarbons, approximately 75 metres of identified pay, matrix porosity between natural fractures, and the ability to drill a longer horizontal section due to its shallower depth compared to the Elandshoek formation. The company has upgraded testing capabilities ahead of the next phase by securing additional equipment and changing surface operations providers. Gas and liquid samples collected during testing have been sent to laboratories in the United States, with compositional analysis results expected in the coming weeks. Beyond the drilling program, ReconAfrica continues to advance exploration activities in the Angola MOU area, where geochemical sampling of surface oil seeps was completed earlier this year. The company also strengthened its financial position, ending the second quarter with a cash balance of $24.2 million while receiving nearly $5 million from warrant exercises during the first half of 2026. The Jarvie-1 rig is expected to conduct the horizontal production test as ReconAfrica moves toward determining the full production potential of the Kavango Basin discovery. #proactiveinvestors #reconnaissanceenergyafricaltd #tsxv #reco #otcqx #recaf #NamibiaOil #EnergyExploration #OilAndGas #OilAndGas #Namibia #Hydrocarbons #NaturalGas #Energy #Exploration #Hydrocarbons #KavangoBasin #EnergyNews #MiningNews
