Horizon Gold targets resource growth at Gum Creek

Episode Summary

Horizon Gold Ltd managing director Scott Williamson talked with Proactive about broad, high-grade gold intersections returned from drilling at the Kingfisher, Hawk and Swan prospects within the Gum Creek Gold Project in Western Australia. The strongest result came from Kingfisher, where reverse circulation drilling intersected 23 metres at 5.26 g/t gold from 188 metres, including 15 metres at 7.65 g/t gold. Williamson said the result demonstrated the high-grade nature of the Kingfisher deposit and extended the mineralised area to the north, towards the Swan and Swift deposits. The intersection sits within the proposed open-pit mining area, meaning it could contribute to an expansion of the planned Kingfisher open pit. Horizon Gold is also continuing to test deeper mineralisation that may support future underground mining. He also discussed the potential economic impact of further resource growth. Horizon Gold’s recent study outlined a ten-year open-pit mining operation producing around 100,000 ounces of gold annually. Additional open-pit resources could extend that mine life, while the inclusion of underground mining could lift production above the 100,000-ounce-per-year level. Further drilling is planned to test underground potential at Swan and Kingfisher, while also continuing to extend the open pits.
