Giyani Metals Corp CEO Charles FitzRoy updates Proactive's Stephen Gunnion on the company's manganese demonstration plant in South Africa. FitzRoy highlighted the steady progress, noting that the plant remains on track to deliver battery-grade manganese by Q4 of this year for offtaker qualification and testing. He emphasised key steps like completing hard-standing equipment installation and ongoing work on piping and cabling connections. The company has also partnered with CM Solutions for metallurgical testing, successfully removing hydrofluoric acid from the flow sheet, a major advancement in reducing reagent use. Additionally, Minopex, a leading plant operations group, has been engaged to operate the facility upon commissioning. FitzRoy underscored the importance of the demo plant’s continuous operation, which ensures a consistent end product, crucial for securing offtake agreements with OEMs. “This is a world-class facility, and we are on track for commissioning in Q4,” said FitzRoy. The plant will also serve as a critical step for de-risking the ramp-up of Giyani’s commercial facility, which is expected by 2027.
