Lightning Minerals Ltd managing director Troy Brice talked with Proactive about the start of Phase 2 drilling at the company’s wholly owned Mt Turner Gold Project in North Queensland, where the latest campaign is targeting extensions to mineralisation along the 14-kilometre Drummer Fault corridor. Brice said drilling is already underway, with the rig mobilised, crews on site and preparatory work completed. The program comprises five targeted diamond drill holes for around 650 metres and follows the company’s 2025 campaign, which Brice said delivered a 100% success rate. The latest drilling is designed to test mineralisation along strike and at depth while adding further support to Lightning Minerals’ geological model. Brice said recent work, including a University of New South Wales petrology report, had provided additional validation for the company’s interpretation of the system. The company is also aiming to establish the extent, grade, depth and strike of the mineralised body, with the results expected to contribute to a 3D geological model and support work towards a maiden mineral resource estimate for the Mt Turner Gold Project in 2027. Brice said Lightning Minerals believes Mt Turner has the potential to represent a district-scale gold system, with further exploration targets available beyond the current drilling area. He also discussed the company’s broader exploration pipeline, including activity elsewhere in Queensland as well as planned or upcoming work in New South Wales and Western Australia. Brice said the company’s strategic focus remains on gold and copper, with tungsten also emerging as an additional opportunity at Warby.
